Homie
Privacy Policy
Last updated July 3, 2026
Homie exists so rescues and the people around them can coordinate care for dogs. That takes some personal data. This page says plainly what we collect, who sees it, and what we will never do with it.
The short version
- Your profile is shared with your rescue so they can coordinate care.
- It is never public, never ranked, and never sold.
- You control discoverability, and you can block or report anyone.
- You can ask for an export or deletion of your account at any time.
What we collect
- Account basics · name, email and/or phone, and your authentication credential.
- What you tell a rescue · application answers, foster preferences and capacity, availability, and messages you exchange.
- Care records · updates, photos, weights, medication logs, and appointment notes for dogs in your care.
- Signed agreements · kept exactly as signed, as a legal record for you and the rescue.
- Payment records · when you donate or pay a fee, Stripe processes the card; Homie stores the amount, status, and receipt details · never your card number.
- Device tokens · if you enable push notifications, we store the token needed to deliver them.
Who sees it
Data in Homie is scoped to the rescue you work with. Staff at your rescue see what they need to coordinate: your applications, the dogs in your care, and the messages you send them. Other fosters and adopters do not see your profile unless you choose to be discoverable or you post to a shared space. Public adoption pages show the dog · not you · unless the rescue publishes an update you wrote, credited the way you posted it.
We use a small set of processors to run the service: Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payments), a push-delivery service, and an email provider. Each receives only what its job requires. We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we do not use your data to rank or score you.
AI features
Some features use a language model · the help chat, photo caption suggestions, and badge-proof suggestions. When you use one, the relevant context (your question, the photo, the dog's first name) is sent to the model provider to generate the response and is not used to train their models under our agreements. AI answers are assistance, not veterinary or legal advice.
Notifications
Rescues reach you through Homie · in-app, push, and email. Non-essential email always carries a one-click unsubscribe, and quiet hours and mutes are respected for push. Essential notices about your own applications, agreements, and dogs in your care may still be delivered.
Retention and deletion
Your data stays while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile and personal records, with two carve-outs we are required to keep: signed agreements (legal records held for the rescue) and payment records (financial-compliance retention). Care records about a dog · weights, medical logs · belong to the dog's file and stay with the rescue, with your name removed on request.
Your controls
- Discoverability on or off · Settings → Privacy & safety.
- Block or report any user from their profile or a conversation.
- Unsubscribe links on every non-essential email.
- Export or delete your account · Settings, or ask through the help chat.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside Homie is enforced row-by-row in the database · staff of one rescue cannot read another rescue's records, and signed-out visitors can only see what a rescue has deliberately published.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. Questions or requests: use the in-app help chat, or ask your rescue's coordinator to relay to Homie support. See also our Terms of Service.
